Social media platforms offer us great tools to connect with customers and grow our businesses. The great news about social media in general is that the barrier-to-entry is low. It is relatively cheap and easy to have a presence. One big negative is that in order to be effective, social media management is time-intensive and in almost every case is an ongoing campaign. For that reason, it’s critical that a concrete goal for the use of social media is established prior to jumping into the social media waters for the first time or launching a new campaign. Many times we see clients who are so enamored by the cool tools themselves that their first request is for the project (say, an awesome Facebook application,) rather than an analysis of what their actual social media needs/ challenges/ and opportunities may be.
